POST ON THE RUN

I'm back from LA where my agent and I presented at the 2010 SCBWI Conference. Thanks to all who came to our workshop, and welcome to the Wonkytonk.

As promised to the conference attendees, here are some frequently asked author questions. These questions are more insightful than you'd think. I hope these lead to some exciting eureka about your work and maybe even yourself. Enjoy!

1. Briefly tell us about your book.
2. What was the inspiration for your book?
3. How long did it take you to write it?
4. What characters were based on real life/real people?
5. When did you know that you wanted to be a writer?
6. Which of your characters is most like you?
7. What other books/authors have inspired you and why?
8. Who is your favorite fictional character and why?
9. What would your readers be most surprised to learn about you?
10. What do you want readers to remember about your book/books?

Hi Jill,

It was so great meeting you in LA! Many, many thanks for all your kindness and generosity. And thank you for the fantastic workshop and this great list of questions. If I ever get this far, I'll know what to do! :)

DUH
I can never get the hang of OpenID -- and like a dummy I forgot to tell you who was waving. It's Martina. (Waving madly again!)

Hugs,

Me.

P.S. -- Forgot to tell you how much I LOVED the boots you were wearing on Monday!

I so wish I could have been in your session. But I have to tell you, sitting and chatting with you on Monday night was a highlight of my trip. I can hardly wait to get my hands and eyes on the new book. I want you to know, your friendship and support means so very much to me. I'm crossing my fingers we'll be blogging together about a certain Cinderella story. I think I should get out the tape measure! xoxo

Hi from a fellow Southerner :)
Hi Jill -- it was great meeting you in LA! I enjoyed your session and was right proud to raise my hand when you asked if anyone in the audience had heard of Nudie suits! I wish you continued success with your work and hope to see you presenting another workshop soon.

Best,
Patricia Wiles
